Kindergarten enrollment for the 2023-24 school year is open. Our free, all-day kindergarten classes provide a nurturing, welcoming and high-quality learning environment at 31 elementary schools throughout the city.

In 1978, The Education Task Force of Sonoma County California planned the first “Women’s History Week” in early March to celebrate the contributions of women in society. This event has grown to an entire month of reflection, pride and activism. President Biden stated in his 2023 Proclamation on Women's History, "...we celebrate the countless women who have fought tirelessly and courageously for equality, justice and opportunity in our nation. Food pantry appointments - Akron-area residents can schedule a FREE online appointment with select area food pantries to receive meal or grocery assistance. Appointments can be made in advance or the day assistance is needed. Learn more.
Jim Chenot Attitude for Gratitude Scholarship - APS seniors can submit an essay, poem, song, podcast or video describing a challenge they have overcome to apply for the Jim Chenot Attitude for Gratitude Scholarship. Application, creative work and a letter of recommendation are due May 1 to Matt Anthony.
Akron Zoo Inclusion Days -March 4-6 at the Akron Zoo (500 Edgewood Ave.). Guests who wear orange in support of National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month will receive free admission. Parking is $5. Learn more.
