APS has named Mary Outley as interim APS superintendent. She has worked for the district for 33 years serving as both an educator and administrator. Prior to her appointment by the Akron Board of Education, Mary guided APS elementary schools as the executive director of elementary education. She is a lifetime resident of the area and a 1985 graduate of Buchtel CLC.

During the school day: School-Based Health Centers Students can schedule a visit with a Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) if they get sick during the school day, have a minor illness or need vaccines, all without leaving school. After school/on the weekends – minor illnesses: Quick Care Online Akron Children’s Quick Care Online connects families to pediatric care for minor illnesses through a phone, tablet or video-enabled computer. Many say the world needs more kindness. But why? Not only does kindness make the world a better place for everyone, but acts of kindness can boost feelings of confidence, control, happiness and optimism. Being kind can also encourage others to repeat the good deeds they have experienced. Feb. 17 is Random Acts of Kindness Day and an opportunity to bring more kindness into our world. Learn more:
Totalee Girls Mentoring Program. Girls ages 10-15 years old can participate in a mentoring program with Coach Retha to develop key character traits including self-awareness, respect, self-growth and more.
